Software engineer based in Bristol, working independently under the MetallicGloss name.

At 16, I turned my love for gaming into a business, growing PrimeNodes and ELHostingServices into a multi-continental hosting operation before selling up to Hydra Communications in 2022 - while studying cyber security and forensics alongside it. These days I spend most of my time on small personal projects and experiments instead.

The story behind the name

METALLICGLOSS

Around the same time I needed my first gamertag as a teenager, I was holed up in my room while my parents tore it apart with paint pots and dust sheets. Annoyed that I wasn't the first "William" to try registering on Google, I looked around for inspiration - metallic gold foil glinting off the books by my bed, white gloss paint drying on the walls. Smash the two together, job done. Over a decade later, I'm still using it. It's not the flashiest name, but it's mine, and I'm not the type to walk away from something once I've committed.
